JEWELRY CARE

Crafted to be lived in, our gold vermeil features 3 microns of 18k gold over sterling silver and is sealed with an anti-tarnish coating for lasting shine.

Avoid sweat AVOID SWEAT Avoid wearing jewelry during exercise or strenuous tasks because sweat may cause it to tarnish.
Avoid bath AVOID BATH, SAUNA, SWIMMING POOLS, OCEAN WATER These environments expose jewelry to prolonged heat, moisture, chlorine, and salt which can weaken the gold layer and speed up tarnishing.
Avoid cosmetics AVOID COSMETICS Let skincare and fragrances absorb fully before wearing jewelry, as oils and chemicals may dull the surface over time.
Storage STORAGE Store your pieces in a dry, airtight pouch or jewelry box to prevent moisture from dulling the gold.

OUR MATERIALS

GOLD VERMEIL

Our gold vermeil pieces are crafted in a Responsible Jewelry Council certified production house, featuring a base of sterling silver coated with a thick layer of genuine 18k gold. We follow higher-than-industry standards by using 3 microns of gold instead of the usual 2.5, and every piece is sealed with an anti-tarnish coating.

The result is jewelry that looks luxurious, lasts longer, and is gentle on sensitive skin. Comparable to gold-filled in durability and far more elevated than regular plating, our gold vermeil is designed to be worn often and cherished for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is gold-filled jewelry?
Gold-filled jewelry features a thick layer of 14k or 18k gold pressure-bonded to a brass core. It's more durable than gold-plated and more affordable than solid gold. Our 14k gold-filled pieces contain 5% solid gold by weight; our 18k pieces contain 3% solid gold by weight.
Does gold-filled jewelry tarnish?
Gold-filled jewelry is highly tarnish-resistant thanks to its thick, pressure-bonded gold layer. With proper care, it maintains its shine for years. Avoid contact with sweat, lotions, perfumes, and cleaning agents to preserve the finish long-term.
Can I shower with gold-filled jewelry?
Yes. Gold-filled is generally safe to wear in water, including in the shower. Keep it away from oceans, swimming pools, and baths — the chemicals in chlorine and saltwater can break down the gold layer over time.
Will gold-filled jewelry turn my skin green?
No. Gold-filled is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin. The thick, bonded gold layer prevents the brass core from contacting your skin, making it a reliable option for people with sensitive skin or ears.
How long does gold-filled jewelry last?
With proper care, gold-filled jewelry maintains its shine and finish for many years. Apply perfumes and lotions before putting jewelry on, wipe gently with a soft jewelry cloth after wear, and store each piece in a dry pouch or box to protect it from moisture and scratches.
Is gold-filled the same as gold-plated?
No. Gold-plated jewelry has a very thin gold layer that typically wears off within weeks. Gold-filled has a much thicker gold layer that's pressure-bonded to the core, which is why it lasts significantly longer and doesn't flake, chip, or turn skin green.
What is gold vermeil?
Our gold vermeil features a thick layer of 18k gold plated over sterling silver, crafted in a Responsible Jewelry Council certified production house. While the industry standard for gold vermeil is 2.5 microns, we use 3 microns along with an anti-tarnish coating for enhanced shine and durability.
Does gold vermeil tarnish?
Our gold vermeil is designed to resist tarnishing thanks to its 3-micron gold layer and anti-tarnish coating. To maintain the thickness and longevity of the gold layer, limit contact with perfumes, lotions, and sweat.
Can I shower with gold vermeil jewelry?
Gold vermeil is safe for light water exposure, including the shower. Avoid oceans, swimming pools, hot tubs, and baths — the chemicals and salt can wear down the gold plating over time.
Is gold vermeil good quality?
Yes. Our gold vermeil is crafted with 3 microns of 18k gold over sterling silver — thicker than the 2.5-micron industry standard — and finished with an anti-tarnish coating. This makes our gold vermeil comparable to gold-filled in longevity while remaining a great option for sensitive skin.
What's the difference between gold-filled and gold vermeil?
Gold-filled has a thick layer of 14k or 18k gold pressure-bonded to a brass core. Gold vermeil has a thick layer of gold plated over sterling silver. Both are durable, tarnish-resistant, and safe for sensitive skin. Gold vermeil has a sterling silver base, which some prefer as a higher-quality core material.
How do I care for gold vermeil jewelry?
Limit contact with perfumes, lotions, and sweat to maintain the thickness and longevity of the gold layer. Clean gently with a soft cloth — avoid abrasive materials or ultrasonic cleaners, which can strip the plating. Store in a dry pouch or box to keep it from tarnishing and scratching.
